Current limiting resistor

Limits the base current of transistors and the current of LEDs. The resistance value can be set to get the appropriate current.

Pull-up / Pull-down Resistor

Bus line in the digital circuit plays a role to transfer the data between CPU (Microcomputer), memory and peripheral devices. A resistor (pull-up and pull-down resistor) of 1 kΩ to 100 kΩ is inserted between the power supply or ground and the signal line to stabilize the signal potential of the bus line. A resistor (terminating resistor) of several 10 Ω to 100 Ω is used between the signal line and ground to match the impedance of the signal line and LSI.

Damping resistor

A resistor of several 10 Ω is inserted in the signal transmission line to suppress the signal overshoot and undershoot.

Current-voltage conversion

Using the Ohm's law, the current flowing through the circuit can be calculated from the voltage drop across the resistor. This has led to widespread use of resistors for current sensing.

Filtering circuit

In combination with a capacitor, it passes specific frequency components of the signal. It is also used for active filters using operational amplifiers.
